Our elf has finished the sleigh repairs. His final ticket says it is ready to collect him. 🛷
He looks very pleased with his work, although most of it appears to involve cardboard and glue.
This elf leaving idea gives him one last workshop job before home time.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Wooden craft sticks for the little workshop base and sleigh braces (paid link)
- Sturdy cardboard, paper and a pen
- Tape or craft glue and colouring supplies
Setup:
Draw a simple sleigh side on cardboard, with a seat curve and runner underneath. A single flat silhouette is enough. To make the freestanding version in our photo, cut two matching sides and join them with broad cardboard spacers at the base and seat.
Rest the sleigh on a workshop mat. Add wooden craft sticks as braces or lay them beside it as spare repair materials. Sit your supported elf near the completed sleigh holding “Ready to collect me”. Keep real tools put away once the craft is finished.
Make a little repair ticket with “Runners checked” and “Ready for Christmas Eve”. The children can add the final tick before waving the mechanic home. The cardboard sleigh is a display model rather than a seat that needs to carry him.
Make it cheaply:
Use strips of thick packaging instead of bought wooden sticks. Draw the sleigh flat on cardboard if you do not want to build it. Paper offcuts make the repair ticket and final message.
