Our elf has been colouring his own little Christmas snow globe. We think he’s rather proud of that tree! ✨
He’s left a spare picture for the children, along with a note saying “A little Christmas sparkle”. The finished globe sits beside him, with the colouring pencils nearby.
This easy elf idea uses a small colour-in craft kit. It makes a lovely morning activity as well as a scene to discover.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Baker Ross Christmas colour-in snow-globe kit (paid link)
- Crayola colouring pencils (paid link) or pens, which are not included in the kit
- A pencil case or small support for the elf
- A scrap of paper for the note
- Optional extra Christmas colouring sheets
Setup:
Colour one of the kit’s paper inserts and assemble a globe following the included directions, using the supplied glitter and the water needed for the kit. Check that it is properly closed before putting it on the table. Sit your elf against the pencil case, with a pencil resting near one mitten. Place the finished globe beside him and leave an uncoloured insert flat at the front. Add his sparkle note. The Baker Ross pack contains four little globes, approximately 5cm tall, with two inserts per globe in eight Christmas designs. You can make one for the elf and keep the others for the children to finish together. Leave any filling and closing until you are there to help with the activity.
Make it cheaply:
Make a dry miniature Christmas ornament instead. Colour a little paper tree, fold a tab underneath and stand it on a card circle. Put a clean, empty jar upside down over the drawing, or simply make a curved paper backdrop. A few drawn dots can be the snow. Your elf can leave the same colouring invitation without a bought kit.
Try the paper-snowflake class or the marshmallow snowman workshop for another elf scene.
