Our elf is hosting the teddy awards. The prizes are for excellent cuddles and wonderful listening, so the competition has been very strong! 🏅
A bear and a bunny have homemade paper rosettes, while our elf looks after the ceremony. A little envelope makes it feel as though the results have just been announced.
This easy elf idea is a sweet way to involve favourite cuddly toys. Choose awards that suit the toys your children know, then let them think of a few more in the morning.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Two small cuddly toys
- Plain craft card (paid link)
- Gold or yellow paper, or a colouring pencil
- Scrap paper for rosettes and ribbon tails
- A little tape
- A cloth to support your elf
- A small envelope
Setup:
Make two flat paper rosettes by layering a few paper circles and adding two narrow tails at the bottom. Colour them gold or yellow and write a short award in each centre. “Best cuddles” and “Best listener” work well, but you can choose your own. Attach the badges lightly to the toys’ fronts with a little tape or a loose fabric ribbon. Sit the toys together on a low bench or table, with your elf supported beside them as the host. Fold a cardboard sign saying “TEDDY AWARDS” and leave a small envelope nearby. You can add one paper star in front of the group without needing a trophy or a full stage.
Make it cheaply:
Use scrap paper and coloured pencils for the badges, with a cereal-box sign behind the toys. A folded paper pocket can replace the envelope. If making rosettes takes too long, draw a gold star on a small card for each toy and write the award underneath. Two favourite toys and a cheerful elf are enough to make the ceremony.
Try the kindness-note cupboard or the teddy birthday party for another elf scene.
