The elf has saved one last wave for the window. 👋
It is quite a big wave for such a small elf. He wanted to be sure the family would see it.
This elf leaving idea makes a bright goodbye beside the glass.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Assorted coloured cellophane sheets for a window-wave craft (paid link)
- Paper or card, tape and a pen
Setup:
Draw a large waving-hand outline on card and cut it out. Cut broad openings inside the fingers and palm, leaving a sturdy border, then tape coloured cellophane behind them. An adult can handle the cutting.
Add “A final wave” on a paper patch across the palm. Fold a cardboard tab behind the hand so it can stand on a wide windowsill without sticking anything to the glass.
Seat the elf beside it with his back supported and the window closed. Leave a farewell beneath the hand. When the elf goes home, the colourful paper wave can stay for a little longer as his goodbye decoration.
Make it cheaply:
Colour a solid paper hand with pencils instead of buying cellophane. A cereal-box backing and a folded scrap-card support are enough to keep the wave upright.
