The elf has mapped out his journey home, and the route is rather wiggly. 🎀
He has marked the North Pole clearly. We are hoping the ribbon does not take him back to the biscuit cupboard.
This elf leaving idea makes a cheerful travel map for the final day.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Red, green and gold ribbon for the homeward route (paid link)
- A large sheet of paper, colouring pencils and tape
Setup:
Draw your house at one corner of a sheet and snowy mountains labelled “North Pole” at the other. Add a few trees and a dotted path between them. This is a pretend map, so it needs no real address.
Lay a short ribbon along the path and fix the ends with small tape tabs. Sit the elf behind the map, supported against a box, with a pencil resting by his mittens.
Write “My way home” at the top and leave a goodbye message beside the house. The children can add a landmark they think he should pass on the journey, such as a cloud shaped like a pudding.
Make it cheaply:
Draw the route with a red pencil or use a narrow strip of spare wrapping paper instead of buying ribbon. Tape two sheets of scrap paper together for a bigger map.
