Our elf has dressed as a doughnut to help at the bakery. His first customer appears to have misunderstood the uniform. 🍩
The teddy is waiting with an empty plate, so the elf has hurriedly put up a “Not for sale!” sign. We think a normal apron might have been easier.
This funny doughnut elf idea is a pretend bakery mix-up, rather than another elf having a doughnut snack. The costume is fabric and the little customer is entirely imaginary.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- A pink-iced miniature doughnut outfit (paid link)
- A small box to support the seated elf
- One teddy or other toy customer
- An empty little plate and scrap card for the bakery awning
- Paper and a pen for the note
Setup:
Dress the elf in the doughnut costume, leaving his face and mittens clear. Sit him against the small box with his red legs resting on the table. Fold scrap card into a little awning and tape it to the box behind him, adding “Elf bakery” along the top.
Sit the teddy close by with its empty plate facing the elf. Add the “Not for sale!” card in front, where the children will see it immediately. There is no need for real food in this scene.
In the morning, invite the children to draw three things the bakery actually does sell. A teddy-sized menu makes a fun little follow-up activity.
Make it cheaply:
Cut a large doughnut shape from cereal-box card. Colour it tan with pink icing and little sprinkles, then tape a scrap-paper loop to its back so it can hang loosely around the elf’s body. Rest him against a cardboard box and draw the bakery awning on an old envelope.
