Our elf has opened a Christmas hug booth. Teddy has arrived first and seems very pleased with the service. 🧸

The banner says “Free Christmas hugs”, with a few paper holly leaves around the sides.

This easy elf idea makes a warm toy scene from a simple cardboard frame.

What you’ll need:

  • One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
  • One small teddy or other soft toy
  • Scrap cardboard, tape and paper for a banner
  • A folded cloth and a few handmade decorations

Setup:

Make a simple frame with two upright card strips and a flat base. Join the tops with a banner reading FREE CHRISTMAS HUGS and reinforce the sides with folded card flaps so the booth stays upright. Add your own paper holly shapes or heart doodles if you like. Sit your elf against a folded cloth inside the frame, place Teddy in his lap and arrange both white mittens gently around the toy. Keep the elf’s face and red hat visible above his visitor. In the morning, ask the children which toy should visit the booth next. They can bring another teddy over, make a new banner or invent a cheerful welcome for the elf to offer. The display works just as well with a favourite rabbit or dog toy as it does with a teddy bear.

Use what you have:

Use the back of a delivery box for the frame and scrap paper for the sign. If a booth feels like too much cutting, write the banner on one card and prop it behind the elf and Teddy. Their little cuddle already explains the idea, even without the cardboard sides.

Try the teddy picnic or the kindness-note cupboard for another elf scene.
