Our elf has invited the teddy to a picnic. It may be the smallest picnic blanket we’ve ever seen! 🧺
A few little sandwiches and one biscuit are ready between them, with a cup for each guest. The teddy looks very polite about the fact that the sandwiches are made from paper.
This easy elf idea uses a handkerchief and a few toy-box bits. You can set it on a covered bench, a table or a quiet corner of the living-room floor.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- One small teddy
- A clean handkerchief or fabric square
- Paper for a few pretend sandwiches
- Pens to draw the fillings
- A doll plate and two little cups, if you have them
- One optional small biscuit
- A small paper bag
- Paper for a “Picnic for two” sign
Setup:
Lay the handkerchief flat and sit your elf along one edge against a low support. Put the teddy opposite, leaving a little space between them for the plate. Cut a few paper sandwich triangles and draw a narrow coloured filling along each edge. Add the biscuit if you’re using one, then put an empty cup beside each guest. A small folded paper bag can hold the pretend leftovers. Add the sign where it can be read easily and leave the elf’s long legs resting outside the little dining area. The scene works on a bench as in our picture, but a tabletop makes an equally comfortable picnic spot.
Use what you have:
Use a napkin as the blanket and draw the plate and cups on card. The paper sandwiches can be made from an old envelope, with any pen colours for the fillings. Skip the real biscuit and add a paper one instead. Any soft toy can be the guest, so there’s no need to buy picnic accessories.
