Our elf has been making something for you. It is a flower that will not need watering. 🌺
A red tissue-paper bloom is waiting beside him, with a little yellow middle and two green leaves.
This easy elf idea doubles as a simple Christmas craft to try after breakfast.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- A pack of assorted-colour tissue paper (paid link) — take a few red and yellow sheets, or choose colours you like
- Green card, a glue stick and a scrap-paper note
- A closed book or folded cloth to support the elf
Setup:
Make the flower in advance so the glue has time to dry. Scrunch or gather a few small pieces of red tissue into a loose flower shape, then glue them onto the top of a flat green card stem. Add a small crumpled yellow piece in the middle and two green card leaves below. Keep the whole flower lying flat on the table. Sit your elf beside it with his back supported against a closed book, and add an “A flower for you” note. Leave spare paper nearby so the children can make another flower with an adult in the morning. The petals can be round, ruffled or a bit wonky; they do not need to match the photograph. Finished flowers look sweet on a homemade Christmas card, or you could make a little paper bunch for someone in the family.
Make it cheaply:
Instead of buying a pack, saved gift-wrap tissue is ideal, including slightly crumpled pieces. Colour white scrap paper if there is no tissue in the house, and use the green side of an old cereal packet or a coloured paper strip for the stem. A glue stick already in the craft box is plenty; no special flower kit is needed.
Try the pom-pom Christmas wreath or the pop-up Christmas card for another elf scene.
