The elf is waiting at the homeward bus stop. 🚌
The destination is the North Pole, and he has booked exactly one very small seat.
This elf leaving idea puts a toy bus to work for his final journey.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Coloured craft card for a homeward bus-stop sign and ticket (paid link)
- A toy bus you already own, scrap cardboard, pens and tape
Setup:
Park an existing toy bus on a flat playmat or table. Add a removable paper destination label saying “North Pole” if you like, taking care not to cover any moving part.
Make a broad “Homeward stop” sign with a folded-card support and a small “One seat – North Pole” ticket. The sign can be flat against a box rather than mounted on a wooden pole.
Sit the elf beside the bus with his back supported and put the ticket near his mittens. Add “Next stop North Pole” and a short farewell. He can wait outside the bus even if the toy is too small for him to fit inside.
Make it cheaply:
Turn an empty tissue box into a pretend bus by drawing windows and wheels on the sides. Packaging and scrap paper replace bought craft card, and the elf can wait beside the box with his handmade ticket.
