Our elf has joined the clean-up crew. A few paper stars have landed on the Christmas jumper, and he’s taking the job very seriously! ⭐

The lint roller looks enormous beside him, but he’s already collected a few stars on the sticky roll. His little “Star patrol” note suggests that this is now an official operation.

This easy elf idea uses one household tool and a handful of paper pieces. It’s a tidy little scene that takes just a minute or two to arrange.

What you’ll need:

Setup:

Lay the jumper flat on a sofa seat or table and scatter a few paper stars over the front. Stick two or three stars onto the lint roller, then rest the roll against the fabric. Sit your elf beside it against the cushion, with his legs clear of the jumper. Bring the handle gently against one mitten so he looks ready to carry on. Add the note near the front where it can be read easily. You only need a small scattering of stars; the contrast between the large roller and the little elf tells the story. In the morning, the children can finish his very manageable cleaning job.

Make it cheaply:

Cut little triangles or dots from scrap paper if stars take too long. A plain jumper works just as well as a Christmas one. If there’s no lint roller, wrap white paper around a short cardboard tube and add a card handle for a pretend version. Draw a couple of collected stars on its surface to show the elf has started.

Try the North Pole laundry or the kindness-note cupboard for another elf scene.
