Special delivery! Our elf has arrived from the North Pole in a box full of red balloons. 🎁
He’s sitting inside a red-and-white delivery box, peeking through the clear window as though he’s the most important parcel in the world. Beside him is a little envelope and a note saying “Special delivery from the North Pole!” We’re fairly sure the postman wasn’t expecting this one.
This elf arrival idea makes a cheerful welcome-back surprise for the start of December. Pop it somewhere the children will spot it first thing in the morning.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- An elf arrival box kit (paid link) (clear box, red balloons, festive stickers and arrival letter; elf not included)
- A little red tissue or shredded paper, if you already have some
- An envelope, a scrap of paper and a pen
Setup:
Assemble the box and add a little tissue or shredded paper to the bottom. Sit your elf inside, then arrange a few partly inflated balloons around the sides and behind him so his face stays visible. Add the delivery sticker, personalise the supplied arrival letter and tuck it into your envelope. Write your special-delivery note on a scrap of paper and leave it in front. Keep the balloon display out of reach of little hands.
Make it cheaply:
Decorate an old shoebox with red wrapping paper or coloured stripes, write “Elf Delivery” on the front and leave the lid open so your elf can be seen. Scrunched tissue or coloured paper circles make a cheerful filling if you don’t have balloons. Add your own handwritten welcome-back letter and you’ve got a special delivery using things from the cupboard.
