This elf goodbye idea makes a gentle final scene on the sofa.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- Assorted A4 felt sheets for a handmade heart decoration (paid link)
- An existing cushion, paper and a pen
Setup:
Cut a broad heart from felt and lay it flat against a cushion. A single flat heart is enough; sewing and stuffing are optional if you enjoy making decorations.
Write “One last cosy cuddle” on a paper note and fix it to the felt with a small tape tab rather than a pin. Sit the elf beside the heart, with the cushion supporting his back.
Leave a short goodbye underneath inviting the family to sit together for a cuddle before bed. The heart can stay on the sofa after the elf travels home, or be kept with his Christmas things.
Make it cheaply:
Cut the heart from spare paper and colour it red, or fold a clean fabric scrap into a heart-like shape. Your ordinary sofa cushion provides the cosy setting without buying felt or a special pillow.
