Our elf has opened a candyfloss cart. His treats look wonderfully fluffy, although the note makes it clear that they belong in a pretend sweet shop! 🍭
A little cardboard counter and striped paper awning make the stall. The candyfloss is craft fluff on paper cones, with no sticky sugar machine involved.
This funny elf idea suits children who like tiny shops and make-believe food. Your elf can run the counter overnight, then the toys can become customers in the morning.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- A small empty cardboard box
- Plain craft card (paid link)
- Scrap paper for a striped awning and cones
- Craft fluff or scrunched coloured tissue paper (paid link)
- A little tape or craft glue
- A cloth or cushion to support your elf
- Paper for the stall sign and note
Setup:
Turn the empty box into a small counter and add two flat cardboard wheels to the front if you want it to look like a cart. Support a striped paper awning on two cardboard strips fixed to the sides. Sit your elf behind the counter, with his back supported and his face showing clearly. Roll three small paper cones and add a little craft fluff or scrunched tissue to the top of each one. A separate folded cardboard holder keeps the cones upright. Write “Candyfloss” on the stall and “Pretend treats only” on the note. The photo uses pink craft fluff, but white cotton wool or pink tissue works for the same story. Let the glue dry before arranging the treats.
Make it cheaply:
Use a cereal box for the stall and draw the stripes on scrap paper. The wheels and awning are optional; a little box with a sign still makes a sweet counter. Scrunched tissue paper replaces coloured craft fluff, and paper cones need only a dab of tape. No real sweets or toy food set are needed.
