Our elf has invented a new clock. It has biscuits where the numbers should be, which explains why he thinks it is always snack time! 🕒

The paper hands point to more biscuits, and the note says “Snack o’clock!” There seems to be a small flaw in the design, but our elf is quite happy with it.

This funny elf idea is a quick cardboard joke for a busy evening. It is a pretend clock for the elf’s kitchen, rather than a lesson in telling the time.

What you’ll need:

Setup:

Cut a circle from the cardboard and cover or colour it pale blue. Draw a simple biscuit at the top, bottom and each side, leaving the usual clock numbers out altogether. Cut two narrow hands from black paper and attach them together at the centre. A paper fastener lets the hands move; tape works if you are happy to keep them fixed. Point each hand towards one of the biscuit pictures, then lean the clock against a breadboard or another stable support. Sit your elf beside it with his back against a mug and add “Snack o’clock!” on a small note. You can leave a closed biscuit tin nearby to complete his rather optimistic little kitchen.

Make it cheaply:

Use a cereal-box circle and draw directly on it, with no coloured covering needed. Thin cardboard offcuts make the hands and a small piece of tape holds them in place. If you are short of time, draw the whole clock on one sheet of paper and lean it beside your elf. Four biscuit doodles and the note are enough for the joke.

Try the biscuit weather forecast or the banana phone call for another elf scene.
