It seems our elf has been accepted into wizard school… and his first spell is aimed squarely at breakfast! 🪄
Round glasses, a striped scarf and a little black robe have transformed him into the North Pole’s newest wizard. He’s pointing his wand at a saucer of cereal, with a broom parked beside him and a note saying “Accio breakfast!” Clearly, fetching his own breakfast was far too much effort.
This funny elf idea is a lovely little surprise for Harry Potter-loving families. Set it up near the usual breakfast spot and let the kids decide whether his spell has worked.
What you’ll need:
- One official Elf on the Shelf doll (paid link)
- A miniature wizard outfit and accessory kit (paid link) (robe, scarf, glasses, broom and little books)
- A short wooden stick or paper straw for the pretend wand
- A saucer and a few pieces of dry cereal
- A small handwritten note saying “Accio breakfast!”
Setup:
Dress your elf in the robe, scarf and glasses, leaving his red hat peeking out. Sit him beside the saucer with the wand resting in one mitten and pointing towards the cereal. Put the tiny books and broom alongside him, then prop up the note. A few cereal pieces around the saucer make it look as though the spell was a little more enthusiastic than planned!
Make it cheaply:
Cut a simple cape from black felt or spare fabric, make round glasses from a black pipe cleaner or card, and colour yellow stripes onto a strip of red paper for the scarf. Fold scraps of paper into little books and use a paper straw as the wand. For an extra Harry Potter touch, draw a tiny lightning bolt on a removable paper sticker for his forehead.
